KASPER DE VOS
Visual Artist
Ghent, Belgium
Followed sculpture training in Antwerp and Ghent (2009-2012) and took a postgraduate course at the HISK in Ghent.
Kaspers work grows organically and ripens in meaning throughout the process. Ideas emerge in finding materials and objects. These are mostly leftovers from natural processes such as seeds, seed shells, bark, branches and leaves. On the other hand, it is specific industrial leftovers from human activities that he finds and collect. Such as construction materials, packaging and everyday objects. The relationship between nature, local culture and industry is a constant inspiration in his process.
He uses traditional sculpting techniques to enlarge and imitate forms, edible or not. The production process and the materials inspire him to make the imitation as naturalistic as possible.
